Insolvency statistics
The Government publishes quarterly statistics on the numbers and types of insolvencies that have begun in England and Wales.
Quarterly figures published on 6 August 2010 (second quarter of 2010) were as follows:

These figures show that in the 12 month period to 30 June 2010, approximately 1 in 127 active companies (0.8%) went into liquidation, which is down on last quarter and on the corresponding quarter a year ago. Conversely, personal insolvencies have increased from the corresponding quarter of 2009, with figures including Debt Relief Orders, which only came into effect from 6 April 2009.
